There is a philosophy that binds all hippies and that is to walk the beat of your own drum, all the while sharing the open-minded heart that the dance of others is just as awesome as yours.
The beat is where the magic begins, where it transforms, and where it moves in perpetual motion.
How to be a happy hippie?
First, recognize that this is the world in all its manifestations. If you are in a position to change something that you believe is wrong – do so. Manifestations occur regardless whether you are focusing on them or not. Not honoring your own power to make significant changes, manifests inaction. You can choose to silently give love and light to the people, situations, events that you can’t do anything about, and still make a huge difference.
It is your responsibility to view all things from a higher perspective. Choose to be fiercely present.
Second, honor the planet for the living being that she is. Hug a tree, save an animal, recycle your living situation, use your body as transportation by walking from one place to another. The simple acts add up.
It is your responsibility to keep “your side of the street” clean.
Third, accept that you have a life-visa and it is going to run out. Enjoy your stay here in this person-incarnation that you took on before when you were a part of the ether. Even it gets tough, or when it is amazing, treat the whole experience like the super-deluxe vacation package that you chose before you were born.
You are you this time. Honor this.
Being a happy hippie in the “real world” comes down to an undiminished responsibility to speak, share and recognize truth in yourself and in others. The teachers around you – some being disguised hippies – will never fail to astound you.
It is your responsibility to make your own adventures. You chose everything, and as long as you breathe, the choice is always present.
